Book Review #2 — The Birthday Girl
One of Murakami’s oldest works. This was my first exposure to Haruki Murakami’s writings. It’s a short story rather than a book. It’s around 42 pages and it’s a good story. The story is captivating, mysterious and overall a page-turner.
I haven’t read Murakami’s other books yet but I loved his style of writing in this one. He is never direct in this book and always gives the reader some doubts and hints about the current scene. I loved the cliffhanger at the ending and it leaves you thinking about it for some time. I would recommend this book but not at a ridiculous price. I bought it at around ₹ 300 (shipping included, original price was ₹ 100). It is a good read and a good introduction to Murakami’s writing.
